Hyaluronic acid is a natural polysaccharide, that in this injectible form is an excellent soft tissue filler. Used for the reduction of fine lines, wrinkles, contour deformities and volumetric deficiencies of the face, cheeks and lips. It combats the signs of aging, development anomalies and even certain diseases.
Injections are performed in the office and usually in under an hour. This product works by attracting and absorbing water once it is injected. Just like a sponge, it expands, creating volume. Underfilling is necessary since most patients will need a follow-up in three weeks and overfilling can cause bumps and irregularities. While overfilling is rare, it is something to consider since the results can cause a temporary cosmetic problem.
This treatment is especially effective for nasolabial folds, lip augmentation and areas with contour deformities. This is frequently used in conjunction with Botox to correct stubborn lines and creases. There is no need for allergy testing prior to treatment.
