Rhinoplasty is one of the most common types of cosmetic procedures. There are many reasons to fix the external appearance of the nose including removing a hump, undoing a crooked nose, fixing the effects of a previously broken (fractured) nose, raising or lowering the tip of the nose, changing the size of the nostrils or the width of the nose.
Most surgeons won’t perform this type of surgery on patients younger than fifteen because the nasal cartilage may not be fully developed before this age. Rhinoplasty can be safely performed on any patient older than sixteen as long as they are in good general health.
Certain breathing problems, stemming from problems with the internal structure of the nose can be corrected at the same time as the cosmetic reshaping. Dr. Dagan will explore the options with you at the time of your consultation to answer any questions you may have.
In most cases, the incision can be placed inside the nose or along the natural fold lines of the nostril so scarring is rarely an issue.
During the operation, the physician carefully restructures cartilage and sometimes small areas of bone to create a new framework for your new nose. Dr. Dagan uses state of the art dissolving packing material that allows for more comfort after the surgery.
Nose jobs may be performed in tandem with a face or eyelift to help reduce the signs of aging.
